I remember envying certain jillijewels ever since I was young when my Aunt Jill would show us her collection of beautiful pieces. Inevitably one would catch my eye and I would never be able to forget about it, rendering it impossible for Jill to show the piece to anyone else without getting my evil eye. The necklace I’m wearing in this photo, a gift for my 13th birthday, was the first jewel to choose me. I felt so sophisticated wearing the little photo of Ganesh and explaining to my friends both who he was and that yes, my aunt made this necklace, isn’t she good? Although for many birthdays since I have received equally as beautiful pieces of jewelry from jillijewels, at age 20 this one continues to be my favorite. It reminds me of the special connection I have with the creator of the necklace, how much she means to me, and how successful she has become since. Jillijewels has made a special mark on me, with pieces so unique to the individual that it would be impossible to be unaffected after making that initial connection with a favorite.
